Reflection

I have tried really hard to finish the 23 Things. The struggle I have is I find much of web 2.0 repetitive...how many sites do I need to be using.....I know that it is important to be aware of all the new options but realistically I will not use 80% of them. Twitter is a perfect example. Who does this....celebrities who use it to break off relationships or apologize for bad behavior. Facebook on the other hand is great tool for following friends, collegues, businesses, Universities etc.. I will keep going with my tech knowledge . I have to if I want to stay competitive with other Private schools. I think technology is a full time job itself! I have learned a lot about myself...I embrace change yet resist the work that it takes to stay on top of it...........
I think part of my struggle is with my computer. It is 6 or 7 years old and is a challenge everytime I turn it on. I understand why I have to use it.....I'm just saying..............

Virtual Garage Sale

I followed the site of tag sell it which is a virtual garage sale. You have to log in using a social network site and then its like Craigs list. Interesting but I do not have the desire to utilize this anymore than I have ever been intersted in Ebay...not my thing.

Twitter Tired

I have had a Twitter account this year but I confess to never attending to it. I find Twitter foolish. I realize that it could be used professionally but I do not have any current contacts with business associates.

I cannot even think of a another clever title.. the information just keeps mounting...I get it ...I do not need an Ipod...though I do have one......
ITunes U gives you access to top Universities and museums and ongoing programs that you can sign up for...I can go to another site and learn French on my coffee break...reallly?

Avatar "I SEE YOU"

Well, I would love to create my own avatar but again I am foiled by my excellent computer and his assistant WebMarsall. I am going to try on my home computer. I was able to create a wiki site but unable to edit it...everything is gray............sooooo frustrating.....but I like the wiki idea much more efficient than email for group projects. I will not be deterred I am going to "press on" with the rest of the 23 things.

"To Infinty and Beyond"

This type of application seems to be rapidly changing....I had never heard of Screen Casting or Voice Threading but in learning about them I thought of the Iphone commdercials.......so much capability.....I was unable to do a demo because of the limitaions of my excellent computer.

More stuff to amaze me!

Voice Thread and Screen casting are applications(?) I have never heard of...but in learning about them it makes me think of the Iphone commercials. This technology is fascinating but I wonder who will survive. This technology is changing so rapidly.

YouTube YouBetcha!

The history of YouTube is fascinating particularly the fact that it sold for a BILLION DOLLARS!!!!! Whaaaatttt!??? I am comforted that if I should miss an event like the Opening ceremonies for the Olympics I can watch it on YouTube. I have used YouTube for help with my knitting, they always have what I need. This really helps my stress level . The scope of information is unbelievable. Just now I watched a segment on how to know if you have bad breath. It was pretty funny and good information but it is an advertising site too.

Whoooaaaa! Whaaaat....

Mashups...who knew...I visited , Spot Crime, Windowshop, Health and Housing Maps....you click on an address and up pops a listing with pictures! Sooo coooool! I imagine you could make yourself completely paranoid with detailed information regarding your health and welfare.

Flickr or not to Flickr

Online photos sharing is a wonderful idea. My photo memories are in boxes and albums. They are only organized by year. I currently use my cell phone for photo opportunities. I print if I need to. Fickr is a great option for security and organization. I do not believe that I would use the public option. I am freaked out about the privacy we don't have with the internet! I am assuming that my children are taking advantage of this site ....

Stop Start Page

Stop! Enough! I do not want my own page. Both sites were easy to navigate but I am not interested.

Following Frenzy

So many choices........endless sites..feeds...overwhelming! This "thing" was easy to apply but not so easy to limit. I guess I will be constantly updating and changing my choices to make the best use of my time. I selected a few of my colleagues blogs to follow, mostly random selections. I am a news hound so that is also reflected in my choices.

No Ning!

The site ning.com took me to several shopping sites. I selected sports, and knitting as my interests. You then are given choices and more choices to define your topic. I did find vintage knitting patterns! I ultimately ended up on a Martha Stewart page which was about nutrition. I believe someone like Martha Stewart must have an IT department that links her to every possible site to sell her "stuff". I did not join ning.com.

Loosely LinkedIn

I joined LinkedIn ...I was aware of this site but never checked it out. It begs the question ...how many social networking sites should you join? Obviously, as many as will enhance your job performance...but really ....maybe it is enough to just have it on your resume? Whatever...this is when I feel overwhelmed...or perhaps ....undermotivated....TMI !

Kall Me Krazy

I was very surprised at how polite everyone was when speaking of the proper way to comment! I did not expect such good manners! I thought the anonymity of the internet would provide an avenue for "in your face" comments. It does happen ...I know... but good for those who try to set a standard.

No. 3 Blog Blah Blah

I read many blogs and conclude that there are many styles of writing and expressing ideas. We are certainly in a digital revolution. Anyone can blog, young and old. I hadn't really considered the impact of blogs versus a book. Do I spend less time reading books? I do spend a lot of time online reading newspapers and magazines.
The idea that information does not travel in a straight line is thought provoking. We will need to teach ethics and strong values to our students and responsiblity.
I particularly enjoyed the blog about teachers as entertainers. Jim Cramer who has a cable show about the stock market was a great example. A pretty boring topic but he makes it interesting with outlandish props for explanation.

No.2 and not a pencil

I think that I reversed the order of one and two....but Web2.0 is very compelling and I am eager to learn all that I can to enhance my job performance....or just my personal communications. I want to get going with the other numbers because I am late to the game....stay tuned..

Kozy's first krack at it!

Ok, well, first I should say that my children have been relentlessly encouraging me to blog! I am eager to enter the blogging world. It is important for someone of my age to keep current with the new technology. I no longer feel overwhelmed. I like the new tech but just take longer to feel comfortable. I have a high tech phone, the Blackberry Curve, that I am very fond of!! Oh and here is a problem I just forgot what I am supposed to be blogging about...hmmmmmm.
I am also on Facebook but mostly to spy on other people......I tried Twitter but it seems so silly....
